my favorite object :)

My favorite object is this ring that my grandma gave me. It's a family heirloom, her grandma gave it to her as well. I wear it every single day and I love seeing on my hand as a reminder of her.

It’s made up of a pure gold band, not plated and is set with small diamonds and a sapphire in the middle. This ring is decently old and the quality of these materials is crucial in allowing it to have lasted this well for so long.

Frame #1

Here is my first frame! This was honestly way harder to make than I had anticipated. I’ve worked with wood before and specifically pine before and I went into it feeling a little overly confident. I quickly discovered that having access to power tools is a privilege and that working with wood is very difficult. I had a really hard time getting straight cuts and staying consistent with my movements. I’m really looking forward to trying this again but with different tools as I feel like they will allow me to execute my vision better. I really think that this gave me a substantial amount of respect for people who perfected the craft of working with their hands.
